Why is it important to have a physical activity in our daily routine.

The Struggle is Real
Let’s face it — finding time to work out in today’s busy world is incredibly challenging. The alarm goes off, and you’re already dreading the day ahead. You hit snooze, hoping for just a few more minutes of sleep. By the time you drag yourself out of bed, life starts to catch up. Work demands, mounting pressures, and the nightmare that is rush-hour traffic make it seem almost impossible to find the time or motivation to exercise.
For some of us like me, the gym feels like a monotonous chore. For others, the idea of exercising alone is unappealing. We’re constantly looking for workout buddies to make it more enjoyable, yet schedules rarely align.
Why Our Bodies Need Physical Activity
“Take care of your body. It’s the only place you have to live.” — Jim Rohn
Despite the hurdles, our bodies crave movement. Physical activity is essential for maintaining not just physical health, but mental well-being too. Here’s why:
- Mental Fitness
- Exercise releases endorphins, which are natural mood lifters.
- It reduces stress, anxiety, and depression, and can significantly boost your overall mood.
2. Mobility and Strength:
- Regular exercise improves flexibility and strength, making everyday activities easier.
- It enhances cardiovascular health, reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes.
3.Mind Activation:
- Physical activity stimulates brain function and sharpens memory.
- It promotes better sleep patterns, leading to improved cognitive performance during the day.

Finding Your Groove: One Activity at a Time

The key is to find one activity you enjoy and commit to doing it for 30 minutes daily. This could be anything from a brisk walk, dancing, yoga, or even a short workout routine at home.
Developing the Habit: Tips and Tricks
The trick is to not overthink it. Fix a time for your workout and stick to it. Use the habit-stacking approach to make this easier. For example, in the morning without giving much thought, I drink my coffee, freshen up, and get ready to go. This has gradually become a habit, something I don’t give much thought to, like brushing my teeth or taking a shower (and I hope you don’t skip those either!).
A Personal Journey: From Avoidance to Embrace
I wasn’t always the fitness enthusiast you see today. I used to run away from exercise, trying to regulate my weight through sustainable eating alone. However, over time, I understood the importance of physical fitness.
Workout as Self-Care
“Exercise is a celebration of what your body can do. Not a punishment for what you ate.” — Unknown
Working out is a form of self-care. It enhances mind-body coordination and provides a sense of accomplishment. Starting can be difficult, but the benefits far outweigh the initial struggle. Incorporating activities like yoga, dancing, or even lifting weights can transform your fitness journey.
Exploring What Works for You
Lifting weights, even for just 15 minutes, can be a great start. Gradually, you can explore what activities work best for you and combine them to form a comprehensive workout routine. Remember, it’s all about finding balance and making fitness a sustainable part of your life.

Conclusion: Taking the First Step
While the dynamics of our busy lives may make it seem impossible to incorporate fitness, it’s crucial to start somewhere. Even small steps can lead to significant changes. Trust in the process, and over time, working out will become a natural part of your routine, much like brushing your teeth or taking a shower.
“Your body can stand almost anything. It’s your mind that you have to convince.” — Unknown
So, take a deep breath, lace up your sneakers, and make today the day you start prioritising your physical fitness. Your body and mind will thank you.
